San Bartolo Coyotepec

This village is the home of the famous black Oaxacan pottery. There are over 100 families that are dedicated to the making of this wonderful ceramic.

Also in the town square you can find the new Museum of Folk Art that exhibits work from many different villages in an effort to encourage the continuity of the production, honoring the makers while still alive.

It’s nice to visit family home studios to see the making process, kilns and finished work to make the visit more memorable.
