Holy Christ of Tlacolula
This fiesta honors the Holy Christ of the village of Tlacolula. It takes place the second Sunday in October and is a very colorful event that lasts an entire week.
The village organizes a special parade through the streets with all ladies dressed up in their beautiful authentic Indian outfits with giants of papier-mâché dancing to the rhythm of a brass band that leads the parade.
The church will be beautifully decorated with flowers, candles and hand-made agave crowns. There will be organized sports tournaments during the week, bull-riding rodeos and special masses.
The village will also have traditional fairground attractions, food stands and craft stands for visitors.
Tlacolula is a small town 15 miles from the city, easy to get to take part in these celebrations. |
