This Zapotec village is in the southeastern Sierra Juarez of Oaxaca. Among other things fine sisal hammocks, nets, bags and rugs are made here. These items are of such high quality that you can only find them in specialized boutiques in the city and in the National Folk Art Museum in Mexico City. Another town nearby has woodcarvings made by experts that are world renowned, such as the Blas Family who have been carving beautiful wooden animals for the past 3 generations.
