This is another of the earliest Christian congregations and churches built in the highlands of Oaxaca and Mixtec Mountains, from the middle of the XVI Century and also earlier than any religious building in the Valley of Oaxaca. There are numerous original wooden altars with extraordinarily beautiful oil paintings in situ. This building has one of Mexico's best examples of a XVI Century Open Chapel with rich iconography on it and also on the facade of the adjoining church. The Convent is opened to visit Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
