This village is the home of the famous black Oaxacan pottery. There are over 100 families that are dedicated to the making of this wonderful ceramic. Also in the town square you can find the new Museum of Folk Art that exhibits work from many different villages in an effort to encourage the continuity of production, and honoring the makers while still alive. To make the visit more memorable, it's nice to visit family homes/studios to see the pottery-making process, the underground kilns and the finished pieces.
