This is another of the villages well known for making the colorful Alebrije wood carvings. The town is more picturesque however and also easier to walk around with very friendly people and pretty landscapes. There are also a good number of well-known carvers to visit and many opportunities to shop for fine folk art direct from the artist.
This is also the only village in the valley that celebrates Fat Tuesday and has a colorful carnival-style set of dances on that day. If you happen to be there that day you will be marveled at how most kids are dressed up and try to scare folks as they run through the alleys and end up at the main plaza to dance to the rhythm of brass bands.
