Santiago Matatlan (Artisan Mezcal)

This village near Mitla is the world capital of Mezcal.
This is where most of that liquor is made and on the short drive you can see fields and fields of agaves growing for that purpose.
In the village it’s possible to visit family-run stills to see old-fashioned techniques for making this traditional strong liquor. Tasting follows at everyone’s own risk!
