Lambytieco Archaeological site
This is a small but outstanding site for its amazing recent findings.
The site is believed to have occupied an approximate area of over 120 acres at one time, and had occupancy from as far back as 600 B.C. - 800 A.D.
The period of most importance seems to have been from A.D. 640 – 755 under the rule of a lineage that has been found in one of the household units in the site. This home is located above and in the back of the largest platform and looking down from above we can see the entrance layout of the entire household, the entry of the family tomb and their portraits, with names of the occupants of the house who are also buried in the tomb.
There is a second household unit and that corresponded to another part of the ruling family. It that second home can be seen large sized masks of the Zapotec Lord of rain and thunder “Pitao Cocijo”
