Folk Art in Santa Maria Tlaxiaco

This is one of the largest cities of the northwestern highlands of Oaxaca. Famous for its rich Mixtec past surrounded by Ancient nearby pre-Columbian remains, Tlaxiaco is where most of the fine palm crafts come from, such as natural mats, sun hats, furniture and other very refined handmade items.

There is also a Saturday Tianguis Market in Tlaxiaco.
