Natural Springs of Hierve el Agua

These waterfalls were calcified over time to leave us a spectacular natural wonder, located above the Mitla valley on a hilltop village called San Lorenzo Albarradas.
There's a need to walk down to be able to see the falls, and once there natural springs can be seen that have formed little canals on the rock surface, some which feed water into large natural rock pools where swimming is possible, surrounded by a unique landscape.
There is evidence that ancient Zapotecs channeled water from the springs thru these little canals as irrigation to the valley farms.
There are a couple of trails to walk on and get close and above the main springs and also two large swimming pools that are great to bath in.
