San Juan Bautista Coixtlahuaca
This is another of the earliest Christian congregations and churches built in the highlands of Oaxaca and Mixtec Mountains, from the middle of the XVI Century and also earlier than any religious building in the Valley of Oaxaca. There are numerous original beautiful wooden altars with extraordinary oil paintings in situ.
One of the additional architectural features in this complex is the Open Chapel with unique iconography from this early transition of spiritual beliefs. The Convent is opened to visit Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
