Folk Art in Tlahuitoltepec Mixes

This village is in the highlands of Oaxaca in the southeastern Sierra Juarez, past Ayutla and high within the Mixe Mountains. Like Tamazulapan, this village is also a center for the organized manufacturing of traditional Mixe textiles, such as beautiful shirts, blouses (huipils), shawls (rebozos) etc. Most of these items are made for export due to their amazing high quality but also sold in fine boutiques in the city. Also famous here is the music school and brass band that at times performs in theaters all over Mexico.
